theflightrisk:

When I started blogging (almost) a year ago, I was slow. I had just begun running. There were blogs on here about training for Boston, or training for other intimidating events. There were people like leavefearinyourdust that were running distances and paces that I couldn’t fathom. I could only trot along for a half mile, maybe a mile…and then I’d walk/run/walk the rest of my “run.”

Somehow, 2010 was the year I kept going. If you’re just beginning your journey to weight loss, better fitness, better mental health…make 2011 the year you kept going.

Tumblr is a place of positivity. If you catch yourself stressing about Tumblr or being angry about Tumblr or other bloggers…take a break, because that’s not what this is about. I’ve been fortunate enough to not receive many negative “anonymous” messages. If you ever receive these, remember that “anonymous” is synonymous with “imaginary.” Ignore ‘em, seriously. If you’ve just started following me, don’t be fooled by my confidence, long runs, and faster paces. There’s still a lot of people that run a helluva lot faster than me (cough cough, Abel). I also never forget the days I started. It was brutal. I had to stop and walk (and sometimes sit), while my much older friend Salek continued running two more miles.

Emphasis added. Some days I cannot believe I’m seriously training for a half marathon. A year ago I thought it was a highly-doubtful maybe on my 30 by 30 bucket list and in 4 months it will be a reality.
