The end of the month, the year.
Run at least one more <8 min mile. Run 2 miles <18 min. Hit 100 miles on Nike+. No more sub-8s, but consistently sub-9s, which is even better. Hit Go to Kickbox IT at least 3 times. Success!! Can’t wait to go back in 2 weeks. Go skiing once. Fail. Don’t let Christmas become stressful. Only go to parties I want to, not out of obligation. Only buy gifts with real money (no...

Back to it
2.67 miles - 23:37 - 8:50 pace Nothing crazy. But it’s nice to be back in the swing of things. It seems there’s no law in Waltham about having to shovel your sidewalks though, as only every other house or so had. This meant I was running in the street for 98% of those miles. A little scary, but not too bad because I stuck to the side streets and it’s super bright sunshiney out. ...

CW: 188.6 LW: 181.2 (Nov 17) Change? +7.4 So, holidays are over and this is where we stand. Not worried at all. Got the habits in place to combat the bloat weight. Water. Then more water. And then some more. Sweat it out. Clean, simple (and delicious, of course) food.

One Girl No Diet: Rants: Post-Holidays Fat Talk →
Can’t wait to finish unpacking and cleaning the house a bit so I can go for a solid run. onegirlnodiet: If you’re a regular exerciser, the psychological impact of gaining 2-3 (or 8?) lbs is lessened by the “return-to-routine” aspect of the post-holiday season, rather than the panicked “I-need-to-get-my-shit-together” feeling that you face when you weren’t maintaining your weight in...

The end of vacation.
To say that I feel sluggish, bloated, and overall blaahh would be a severe understatement. But tonight’s the last night of vacation mode. After this we’re leaving the parents houses back to the city. And even though I’m out of work for few more days, routines will start anew in the morning. There will also be a lot of clean food and water. I want to leave 2010 the way I spent...

Christmas in NH
So much booze. Rich food. Crazy runs. Hysterical friends. My tummy’s upset, but my heart is happy.

WHY do I always forget my foam roller? And always seem to need it more in NH than normal (the hills maybe?). Anyone got any good foam-roller-like tricks I can do in a pinch?

One Girl No Diet: Slow-Carb Diet. 4-Hour Body? I... →
I love her review of Tim Ferris’ new diet book. Especially the last paragraphs, which are similar to my thoughts on diets in general. onegirlnodiet: I’m pretty sure I’d rather forgo the crazy and eat some pineapple if i feel like it. One of his claims is that your sex life will improve if you do this…mine seems in tact and I don’t follow rules. Although, I typically don’t drink...

Jab, cross, cross, upper, upper.
“These feel so great coming off the body.” - Dana (kickboxing instructor) on our punch combo last night Felt immensely better about life during and after kickboxing last night. Glad I sucked it up and went. It was fun. I’m feeling more confident doing the punches, which leads to more power behind them. Still can’t really do a roundhouse because I’m not strong...

“You look awesome. Seriously.”
– Paraphrased quote from several of my besties from the store that I haven’t seen in awhile. It was really, really nice to have people notice AND say something about it. And don’t worry kids, I knocked out a 5.5 mile run while we had a break in the crazy New England weather with the bff...

Half-Marathon Options
So here are the potential halfs I’m thinking about and some pros/cons. I would love feedback/opinions! Covered Bridges Half Marathon - VT - June 9 + Super scenic + Not too far from home/lake house - Fills up really fast (opens on Monday, closed in hours) - Later than I’d like Wallis Sands Half Marathon - Rye, NH - May 1 + Ocean-front running! + Close to my aunt & drivable...

My poor tummy
HATES me right now. And lot a lately. It’s grumbly and feels hungry, even though it shouldn’t be. And there’s lots of shooting, achey pain, like it’s twisting in knots. These are feelings I used to get all the time. But they’d almost completely disappeared. Now they’re back. What’s different? The only thing I can think of is the stupidly high amount of...

I love/hate all of you.
Everyone’s marathon & half-marathon posts have got me all a-flustered again. I wanna play! I wanna play! (Also, am I CRAZY?!) I was debating awhile back if I run Applefest as my debut half-marathon. However, I’ve feeling the itch right now and want to register for one and get it on my calendar ASAP. Since Applefest doesn’t open for registration until April or May, I’m...

Mental Health Day!
Working from home. Plan of attack for the day: Omelettes a la the boy Laundry Picking up the house (kitchen, living room, ridiculous piles of clothes on my dresser) Work stuff (several excel projects still in the works) Wrapping the boy’s presents while he’s at work Kickboxing (plus maybe a warm-up run?) 10 pm update: Done, done, done. Successful day. And we got the tree!

Routine
Routine? What’s that? This last week was a rollercoaster. And since it followed vacation week it was doubly hard to do any of my should-dos. It was a whole lot easier to just forget, or not go, or eat some chocolate. Yesterday I was up at 6:30 am, after 6ish hours of sleep, to drive to NH for car inspection. I had grand plans of whisking through my holiday shopping, merrily whistling a...

Apocolyse Epilogue
Today feels like the epilogue to an apocalypse movie. We’re all here, still standing, looking at each other like, “Shit, now that we (they) drank ourselves senseless in cheers and sorrow to our fallen friends, now what do we do?” March on, kids, march on. It’s also sort of fitting that today is December 1. New month. New goals. Here we go: Run at least one more <8 min...
